Amit Giant recalls being annoyed by the simplicity of memes and their “lack of design.” At the time, he didn’t fully understand meme culture, since it was just catching on where he’s from—#ThirdWorldLife. So, in his own words, he thought he could create more “artsy-fartsy” memes to ride that wave in a way that felt uniquely his.
Time was a major factor in launching the series. He no longer felt he had the time to craft full comic panels—or so he thought—and believed he no longer had the creativity or drive to conjure them up anymore. He had been through a lot, but still wanted to produce webcomic content, so he came up with what he now calls a “hack job.”
As he puts it: he pities the fool who reads these panels.
