After a long hiatus from webcomicking—which went unnoticed, since there was literally no audience at the time—Amit Giant decided to create a series built around regular, recurring main characters.
He considers this his proudest of the three series he produced back then. Its inspiration drew from a mix of Calvin & Hobbes and a vague memory of a comic by the creator of Invader Zim that he had seen years earlier.
There was no plan or overarching plot; ideas were generated as he went along. Simplicity, authenticity, and mastering his Wacom tablet were the guiding goals—hence the handwritten speech-bubble text, expressive black-and-white webcomic style, loose ink linework, minimal backgrounds, and simple cartoon character designs.
His dismal lifestyle at the time contributed heavily to the series’ tone, and he used the project to really hone his artistic skills. He eventually abandoned it as his life became even more dismal—ironic, or perhaps appropriate, depending on how you look at it.
